Erickson Park Shelter House

   

   Late 2020 the Parks and Recreation Board put in a grant request to the Story County Commuity Grant Foundation. In the early part of 2021 the Board was notified that Roland Parks and Recreation was awarded the Major Grant. After receiving the funds the remodel at the enclosed shelter house at the Erickson Park in Roland. The walls have been updated using corrugated metal on the lower portion of the walls with a knotty pine tongue and groove on the upper portion of the walls. An ADA bathroom is being added inside the shelter house in the NE corner and a small kitchenette is being set up in the SE corner. New windows have been installed and two new doors are being installed. The ceiling will be a vaulted ceiling with beams. Heat and Air Conditioning was added in 2021. The gas fireplace was added in December of 2021.  These changes will certainly be enjoyed by many.

   The open shelter houses are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The enclosed shelter house must be rented in order to be used. The shelter house may be rented year round. The cost for renting the shelter house is $125 per day May-August, $100 per day September - April, and $50 per weeknight (Monday-Thursday). You may reserve the shelter house by calling City Hall at 515-215-2861 during normal working hours. Reservations may be made up to one year in advance.
