Erickson Park

Located on the eastern side of Roland, Erickson Park is Rolands oldest park and has provided a place for it's citizens to gather, relax, play and celebrate for more than 100 years. Early settler Michael Erickson donated five acres of land in 1909 for the creation of the city's first park, and other citizens stepped forward to help plan and fund it's development. Over the years, the park has been the location of not only thousands of family reunions and celbrations, but also the largest and most important of Roland's celebratory and memorial events.

Today's park features playground equipment, a 9 hole disc golf course, a sand volleyball court, and three shelter houses located among a stand of mature trees. The enclosed shelter house was built in 1940 and underwent extensive renovation in 2021.The updated shelter house will be able to host events year round. The Praeri Rail Trail recreational corridor begins on the North side of the park and provides the opportunity to hike, bike or run the ten and half miles east to McCallsburg and Zearing.
