Council Vacancy

The City of Roland, Story County, Iowa, has a vacancy on the City Council as of April 15, 2024, due to a resignation. This Person will on until December 31, 2025.

This notice invites all electors residing in the City of Roland who are qualified, ready, willing, and able to serve in the office of City Council Member At-Large to submit a letter of interest and supporting statement of qualifications to the City Clerk at or before May 15, 2024. You can get the letter of interest here or at City Hall. 

Pursuant to Section 372.13, (2), (a) of the Code of Iowa, notice is  hereby given that the City Council of Roland intends to fill this vacancy by appointment during the Regular City Council meeting held on May 15, 2024 starting at 6:00 p.m.

The electors of the City of Roland have the right to file a petition requiring that the vacancy be filled by a Special election. If the electors wish to require a special election, a valid petition requesting a special election must be filed with the City Clerk within 14 days after publication of this notice or within 14 days after the appointment is made.
