SUMP PUMP OBSERVATION PROGRAM
The State of
The City
recently developed a plan to comply with these mandates. This first phase of
this plan involves observations at each residence/business to confirm that
rainwater & groundwater are not entering the sanitary sewer system. Future
phases will identify and address deficiencies within the sewer system itself.
The observations will check for illegal sump pump and gutter connections to the
sanitary sewer. At the same time, the observers will verify that illegal
connections to the water system are not present in your residence/business.
The
observations have been scheduled with the City’s Engineering Consultant,
You are hereby notified that the City
will issue municipal infractions to the property owner for not attending (or
rescheduling in advance) the property owner’s initial inspection. Subsequent
inspections, due to missing the initial inspection or the discovery of
violations, will be charged to the property owner at a rate of $25.00 per
occurrence. The City will also issue municipal infractions for sump pumps
remaining out of compliance sixty days from the first inspection or sump pumps
found to be out of compliance after passing the initial inspection. Fines for
out of compliance sump pumps will be at the rate of $100.00 per month, until
brought into compliance.
