Council members review the Animal Control Ordinance.  It will be placed on the agenda for the September 14th meeting for its first reading.

Council members discussed placing a bridge over Bear Creek and connecting it to Jacobson Bear Creek Park.  This would provide safe passage for the children and adults on the west side of town to get to the pool and school without having to walk along W Maple Street.  CM’s Canny and Johnson will visit with the current property owner to see if they will consider giving the city a small strip of land for the project.

Council members also reviewed the Comprehensive Plan that was done by the ISU students.  There are a couple of sections that need to be amended to match City Code.  City Clerk Frost will make the changes discussed and submit them for review.

Council/Mayor comments consisted of the following:  there are some grammatical errors on the website and the calendar is not being utilized.  City Clerk Frost will go over the information and get with Jerry to make the corrections.  She will contact the various boards and commissions to see if they will get her or Jerry their meeting information so it can be posted on the website.  They also discussed having a timeline sheet posted showing the progress they are making with the Action Plan.  They also discussed removing the hiring of a City Administrator from one of their goals.  There was also discussion on setting up a Communications Committee.

With no further business at this time, Johnson moved adjournment of the meeting at 7:31 pm, seconded by Varley.  All were in favor.  The next regular council meeting will be Monday, September 14, 2009, at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall.
