OF THE ROLAND CITY COUNCIL
WORK
SESSION
MONDAY,
JANUARY 18, 2010

The Roland
City Council met for a work session on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 4:00 pm, at
City Hall, with CM
It was moved
by Neely, seconded by Canny to approve the agenda. All were in favor.
Neil Guess and
Gregory Sindt of Bolton-Menk, Inc. were present to discuss their services and
options for the wastewater plant facility.
They presented their ideas for the wastewater plant; the pros and the
cons, along with a timeframe the preliminary engineering report would be
completed and presented to the council.
Once the council determines which option they are going to go with, the
Facilities Plan will need to be amended.
There was
discussion on the large amount of I & I coming into the wastewater
plant. The City continues to work on
this issue and will be reverse smoke testing four areas of town this Spring
along with checking sump pumps for improper connections.
They also
discussed briefly funding options for the upgrade.
Council
members thanked Neil and Gregory for taking time to meet with them.
Consensus of
the council was to have Bolton-Menk, Inc. provide them with a contract
detailing the timeframe and costs for the next council meeting. City Clerk Frost was directed to send a
letter to MER Engineering stating the Council wants them to discontinue their
work on the wastewater plant options, but to continue with the smoke testing
project and current street projects.
There were no
Council/Mayor comments at this time.
With no
further business at this time, Neely moved adjournment of the meeting at 5:16
pm, seconded by Ford. All were in
favor. The next regular council meeting
will be Monday, January 25, 2010, at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall.
