MINUTES OF THE ROLAND CITY COUNCIL

SPECIAL SESSION

FEBRUARY 17, 2009

Note: The following minutes were approved by the Roland, Iowa, City Council at the council’s February 23, 2009, meeting.

The Roland City Council met in special session on Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at 5:30 p.m., at the Roland City Hall with council member Jeri Neely presiding. Council members present at roll call were Larry Ford, Corey Johnson, Jeri Neely and Erin Varley. Council member Duane Canny arrived at 5:47 pm. Absent was Mayor Samuel Juhl.

It was moved by Johnson, seconded by Varley to approve the agenda. All were in favor.

It was moved by Varley seconded by Ford to authorize CM Neely to sign the contract with The Building Inspectors. They will be inspecting several properties in town for nuisance and safety violations. All were in favor.

The council met to finalize the FY 2009/10 budget. The council earmarked $10,000 for sidewalk improvements, $10,000 for land acquisition for the Park Dept, $10,000 to make repairs at the park area at the swimming pool, $1500 for scanning the old minute books and putting them online, and amended the total amount of the Library budget to $86,000. City Clerk Frost will complete the budget forms for publication. The council will officially adopt the FY 09/10 budget on March 9^th, 2009.

Council/Mayor comments consisted of the following: CM Canny updated the council on the Community Center project being headed by the RADC.

There was no public input at this time.

With no further business at this time, Johnson moved adjournment of the meeting at 6:02 p.m., seconded by Varley. All were in favor. The next regular council meeting will be Monday, February 23, 2009, at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall.
