The purpose of the meeting was to meet with Shirley Helgevold, a grant writer with MIDAS, to discussion grants that are available to City’s and their Boards and Organizations.  Shirley introduced herself and handed out contact information for herself and other MIDAS representatives.  She went over the three (3) major types of grants, what they fund, what they don’t fund, local match, if they accept applications from City’s or only from organizations, and application deadlines.  She answered questions from the various board members and the council.  She explained MIDAS’ costs that are associated with writing and reviewing the grants.  Board and Organization members were directed to contact Shirley with their proposals and she’d get back to them with what is available and the best way to go about filling out the grant applications.
